Recently government of India, has formed a body NRA ( National Recruitment Agency ). A Common Eligibility Test ( CET ) is planned to be conducted under NRA. Competitive exams like Railway, SSC, Bank, etc have more than one stage, for example, bank exams have prelims and mains. At present the candidates need to prepare and attend prelims each and every time they apply for a bank exam, but with the arrival of CET the preliminary exams of Bank, Railway and SSC will merge as CET. The score of CET will be valid for 3 years, which is the main advantage of CET. So the candidate will not have to write prelims again and again for each exam.
Once a good CET score is attained, the candidates can start preparing for mains exam. CET will be conducted twice in a year, so students can try to improve their score. Only the best score will be taken into account. The exam fee, travel cost, hard work etc required for attending exam each time can be eliminated. So CET is a good initiative for government and candidates.
Detailed syllabus of CET is yet to come. Only preliminary level of exam is going to merge to CET. But main exams will be conducted by the respective bodies. CET will be conducted as three levels based on the educational qualification of the candidates. It is going to be an online objective type exam. Private sectors and other organizations may also consider CET score for their initial sorting of candidates.
A huge expense incurring in the conducting of exam can be reduced through CET. Exam center will be available at all districts. But already declared exams will go as such.
